Erasmus Mundus (IDEALAB) Scholarships


Background: The Erasmus Mundus PhD Program (IDEALAB) is an outstanding interdisciplinary, laboratory-based 3-year doctoral program to the candidates to study structure, processing and foundations of human language integrating interdisciplinary approaches. In this program, four European universities and one non-European university is joint together to provide a highbrow environment for independent research on various aspects of language and the brain. A joint curriculum and a common research program cumulate in a joint degree and the young researchers also receive wide-ranging expert information outside their chosen field of research, extending their horizons towards potential interdisciplinary approaches.

• Neuroimaging in children with normal and impaired language acquisition;
• Neuroimaging in adults with and without acquired language impairments;
• Psycho- and neuro-linguistic studies of subjects with developmental and acquired impairments of spoken and written language (aphasia, dyslexia, dysgraphia) and
• Language therapy studies with neuroimaging before and after therapy as a measure of the influence of intervention on brain re-organization.

Requirements
Condition for fruitful candidates for the PhD program is a Master’s or qualified equivalent degree in Speech and language pathology, Psycho-/ Neurolinguistics, Clinical Linguistics or other language-related fields with a very good grade (at least a B or the equivalent). However the candidates must also have outstanding academic achievement with excellent oral and written English language skills. Applicants also need to have aptitude for original, independent and creative work and research experience.

Additionally required documents

- a description of the motivation for applying to the program, 
- a 8-10 pages research proposal (see 
template), 
- research-motivated preference for a home university and 
- the mobility plan, 
- a certified copy of highest degree certificates and

- reference letters of two academics in English, 
- a proof of sufficient English language knowledge, and 
- a copy of the identification papers or passport.
