Norway and Sida Scholarships for Myanmar Nationals

Background: The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (NMFA), through Norwegian Embassy in Bangkok, and the Swedish International Development Agency (Sida) offer scholarships to qualified Myanmar Nationals to study master’s degree programs at Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) for August 2012 Semester.
 
2.  Applicants from Myanmar who meet admissions requirement of AIT for master’s degree programs are encouraged to apply to any field of study available in AIT ( www.ait.asia ).
 
3.  Applicants from all different sectors including, but not limited to, public sector, private sector, civil society organizations, ethnic communities, non-governmental organizations, and universities are welcome.
 
4.  This scholarship package will cover:
a)    Application Processing Fees
b)   Tuitions and Registration Fees for Pre-bridging (4 weeks in Yangon), Bridging (8 weeks in AIT), Master’s      Degree Programs (4 semesters in AIT)
c)   Monthly bursary and accommodation costs for Pre-bridging, bridging and master’s degree programs
d)   Visa fees, medical insurance, book/printing/photo copy allowance, research grant
e)   Return air ticket for Yangon-Bangkok-Yangon
 
5.       To apply for admission under this scholarship, applicants must complete and submit the following documents:
a)   AIT applications forms [free download from URL: www.ait.asia/admissions/forms.html]
b)  A 1- or 2-page essay (in English) explaining the reasons for applying to AIT and medium/long term career objectives after completion of study [required for applicant to MBA programs only]
c)  A 3-page essay (in Myanmar Language) explaining the reasons for applying to AIT and how you can contribute for future development of Myanmar in short/medium/long term [required for all applicants]
d)  AIT is providing the AIT English Language test at Myanmar Egress which is recognized internally as equivalent to IELTS test. The AIT Local Scholarship Secretariat will provide more details about the English test.

8. Applicant who already submitted his/her application to directly AIT can also apply to this special scholarship program by sending your copies of application forms (that you already sent to AIT Admissions and Scholarships Unit) together with AIT admissions ID Number, a 3-page essay (in Myanmar Language) as mentioned in “Item 5c” to the above-mentioned Local Secretariat for Norwegian Scholarships for Myanmar@AIT.
 
Note : applications earlier sent through AIT’s official recruitment agent, United Network – Management and Business Center (UN-MBC), will also be considered. However, AIT will not consider applications sent through other channels apart from the aforementioned. Applicants are advised NOT to contact or send their applications to the Embassy of Norway or Sweden directly.
