Leigh Marine Climate Time-Series Data Scholarship

The Scholarship was established in 2011 and is funded by the Friends of Leigh.
The main purpose of the Scholarship is to support a postgraduate research masters or doctoral student in Marine Science to undertake analysis of marine climate time-series data based on a 45 year dataset collected at Leigh Marine Laboratory.

Selection process:
  • Masters or PhD candidate in full-time enrolment in a Masters or PhD in Marine Science to study climate time-series data.
  • The basis of selection will be academic merit, a CV and a covering letter including a statement of interest in this research area. Preference will be given to candidates with strengths in statistics, mathematics and/or bioinformatics who have an understanding of climate and ecological sciences.

Decision makers
The Scholarship will be awarded by the University of Auckland Council upon the recommendation of a Selection Committee comprising the Director and Postgraduate Adviser (or their nominees) of the Department of Marine Sciences and one other member of the academic staff (appointed by the Director).

How and when do students learn of the decision?
Approximately six weeks after closing date by letter.

What conditions are attached to acceptance of this award?
The Scholarship may not be held concurrently with a University of Auckland Masters/Honours/PG Diploma Scholarship but may be concurrently held with The University of Auckland Doctoral Scholarship or with any other award or grant as long as a) the terms of that award or grant permit and b) the University of Auckland Council is informed and approves.
